Fall Family Photo Styling | Austin, TX Photographer

Fall family photography outfits do not have to be difficult. As an Austin, Texas family photographer, I help many families each year coordinate their outfits for fall photos. There’s so much I’ve learned along the way, and I wanted to share a few tips today! I have also attached two styling boards below for inspiration for fall family photo styling.

Patterns Are Your Friend

Often clients believe everyone in their family should wear solids. Solids are timeless, but you don’t always have to steer clear of patterns. Fall especially is the perfect time to mix in patterns! I usually recommend 1 pattern for every 2-3 family members depending on how large the family is.

Layering Like A Pro

Austin is known for its heat, but that doesn’t have to stop us from dressing like it’s fall. Layering in this instance is a great idea as the weather changes. Utilizing different textures like crochet, knit, and corduroy is another great option. Both of these add much-needed dimension to photos. Family photography, especially in the fall, can truly stand out with the right outfits and great layering!

Client Closet

When in doubt, take advantage of the client closet for your session! All of my clients have access to the the client closet for their session. This includes maternity, newborn, and family sessions. My client closet sizes range from women’s XS-XXL and children’s sizes NB- age 7.

Do you have a question or comment about fall family photography? I’d love to hear more from you and your family!

WELCOME

Hi, I’m Jillian. I’m super happy you’re here! I’m a motherhood and family photographer with roots in Central Texas. Capturing raw, authentic emotion and telling stories of families across the Lone Star State {and the globe} is what brings me immeasurable joy. I’m a wife, fur mama (with serious dreams of being a stay-at-home dog mom), and professional multi-tasker. I’m an Austin native with a deep love for Texas and this beautiful city. You can usually find me with my family, hiking in the mountains (Colorado feels like home), or booking a trip somewhere new. Wherever I am, you can be certain I’m always chasing sunsets and epic views, and my camera is always at my side.
