Finding The Light
Looking for the best places in your home for your newborn photos? Find the best light, and that’s where we’ll go- the natural light, that is. We turn overhead lights and lamps off and embrace all that beautiful, warm sunlight. The rooms that gets the best light is usually where we will spend our time! If you’re not sure where those rooms are, that’s okay. I can always help find the best light once I get there! Sometimes it might not be where you think. A stairwell, a playroom, and a kitchen floor have all been used during my sessions before!
Don’t Stress About The Mess
I think this is one of the biggest concerns when considering an in-home newborn storytelling session. While I always recommend a quick counter decluttering, I promise a deep cleaning isn’t ever necessary. I also always help tuck away a few items once I arrive the day of our session that might be in view. Don’t ever let the stress of a messy home keep you from documenting your beautiful family and your newest babe!
Styling You and Your Babe
Styling is one of the biggest parts of a newborn session! Sticking to neutrals or earth-toned colors always works best. Large logos or bright, neon colors can distract from baby which is the opposite of what we want. Newborn sessions often last close to two hours, so choosing a comfortable outfit is important. I always recommend choosing one outfit for babe and sticking to it. I know it’s tough when they have so many adorable options, but universally there is nothing babies hate more than being changed into several outfits 🙂
